9-9:30

Roundup

Roundup is a Maplewood tradition where we meet at the basketball court for morning announcements and to sing and dance together.

9:30–10

Soccer

Whether playing games or working in stations to practice dribbling, passing, and shooting, soccer is a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It helps to improve fitness, coordination, and promotes teamwork.

10–10:30

Snack Time

We set time aside each morning for our preschoolers and kindergarteners to have a snack from home. In the afternoon, campers gather under the pavilion for ice cream and to spend time with their camp friends.

10:30–11

Basketball

We have two-full sized basketball courts adjacent to our sports fields. Campers and Counselors work together to develop dribbling, shooting, and defensive skills. Basketball hoops are adjustable and accessible to all ages.

11–11:30

Barnyard

Discovering the outdoors is an important component to the Maplewood experience. At our barnyard students meet all different types of animals; goats, chickens, roosters, bunnies, and snakes! Campers learn where their furry friends come from and the proper way to care for them.

11:30-12

Lunch

After a morning of running and playing, campers meet at the pavilion, Maplewood’s outdoor picnic area, and enjoy lunch with their group while relaxing in the crisp fresh air. Lunch options include bringing lunch from home where we refrigerate upon arrival, or preordering food delivered to Maplewood from My Hot Lunchbox. In the afternoon, campers gather under the pavilion for ice cream and to spend time with their camp friends.

12–12:30

Boating

Our 5-acre lake is the perfect setting for boating & fishing! Campers will row around our beautiful lake in kayaks, aqua-cycles, bumper boats, paddle boats, canoes, and row boats.

12:30–1:00

Gymnastics

A Maplewood favorite! Campers swing from the bars, concentrate on balance as they walk across the balance beam, and control their footing when practicing their landings.

1–1:30

Swimming Lessons (daily)

Our waterfront staff works hard throughout the summer to help campers adjust to the water, learn to float, and learn basic swim strokes. Nothing beats taking a ride down “Hoppin Hal’s tongue-slide,” into our Olympic sized heated pool.

1:30–2:15

Free Swim

Afternoon free swim is a wonderful opportunity for campers to play in the pool with their friends, go on the diving board and slide, and practice and reinforce what they learned during their instructional swim.

2:15–3:00

Change

Campers change out of their swim clothes and into dry ones.

3:00–4:00

Ice Cream Dismissal

Each afternoon, our campers get an ice cream treat, from cones to sandwiches to bars, all made in a nut-free facility. We also always offer a lactose-free, gluten-free ice cream option. Our ice cream has no high fructose corn syrup or artificial food coloring.

Train Rides

All A Board the Maplewood Express! Our youngest campers will love the thrill of climbing aboard, waving to their friends, and enjoying the scenic ride around the camp. COMING IN THE SPRING

Carnival

Carnival brings the camp to life with music and laughter! Staff and campers join forces for a fun-filled event featuring interactive games, face painting, cotton candy, and lots of enjoyment!

Tie-Dye Day

Campers and staff gets into the action for our annual Summer Camp Tie Dye activity. At the end of the week everyone wears their creation and the camp is filled with a sea of colors.

Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt is filled with teamwork, riddles, clues, and giggles! Campers and staff all get into the action in search of Lee's hat.

Gold Rush

Gold Rush! Games & Gold! Enjoy thrilling games, discover shimmering gold, and immerse yourself in the spirited world of cowboys and endless fun!

Penny Dive

Penny Dive. Dancing on the pool deck combined with the search for pennies that get thrown in the Pool. Some of the lucky ones find a giant one! And penny dive would not be complete without a visit to the penny candy store.

What is the camper/counselor ratio for the Preschool & Kindergarten Program?

We pride ourselves with a 4-to-1 camper-to-counselor ratio that far exceeds the ACA requirements, because we believe individual attention and quality staff are an essential ingredient to creating an amazing Summer Camp experience!

Will my child learn to swim? What if they're a complete beginner?

Daily Swim instruction takes place in a heated, specially designed shallow pool. Beginners get 1:1 attention. All our staff are fully trained in safety and our life-guards keep a careful eye to prevent any potential issues.

Over 30,000 children have learned to swim at Maplewood. We cherish this tradition and work hard to maintain the high standards we've set for ourselves, since our founding over 60 years ago.

Do you have separate areas for preschool and kindergarten children?

Yes, we have exclusive areas for preschoolers and kindergartners in order to provide the best care needed at this young age.

What age does my child need to attend the Maplewood Summer Camp Preschool & Kindergarten Program?

Preschool Summer Camp/Age:

Children must be at least 3 years of age and fully potty trained.

2-Day: Tuesday & Thursday
3-Day: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
5-Day: Monday - Friday
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Kindergarten Summer Camp/Age:

For children entering Kindergarten in September 2023, or for those who miss the kindergarten cut-off

What is the daily schedule?

Our daily schedule starts at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00pm. Each day your child will participate in a wide variety of activities made up of a perfect combination of active and relaxed activities.

Swimming, sports, the arts, gymnastics, pedal karts, Maplewood Village, boating (and more) let children expend their plentiful energy in fun and useful ways, while story-time, quiet group games and playground time provides children the opportunity to slow down.
