Parent Testimonials
Here's what our families have to say:
When we saw Lucy jump into the deep end and comfortably swim with friends in the deep end all weekend, there were literally tears of joy and gratitude. We're truly appreciative of her swim instructor, Rachel. Lucy loved swimming with her every day and we are grateful to the entire waterfront team! (Bonus points to the lifeguard who knows every car and child at the drop-off circle! That was incredible to watch.
We just wanted to take a moment to thank you all so much for the most AMAZING six weeks at Maplewood. We cannot tell you enough how much fun Nolan had and how much he enjoyed every moment with his group and counselors. You have such a special staff – each counselor that worked with Nolan was incredible - and the entire Maplewood community is so lucky to have this program for our kids. Nolan has slept in his tie-dye t-shirt every day since camp ended, and wakes up every morning if “it can please be a camp Maplewood day.” Than you again for helping to make summer so wonderful! We’re already counting down the days until next summer.
I have two daughters at Maplewood. The older one has been going for 5 years, and my younger daughter for 3 years. Maplewood is a great place and a great camp, a great place for children to grow, mature, and make great friendships
Former camper at MCDC. Being a camper and being a waterfront counselor and now being a parent of 2 young boys in the Poodles and Rascals and enjoying the camp through their experience. It has been a wonderful engagement with the camp over the past 35-40 years.
My children have been coming to Maplewood for 8 years. The counselors at Maplewood are amazing. Lee and Sue return every call immediately if there are ever any questions. The Nurse is amazing. Maplewood is the best place for my children to spend the summer.
I have 2 children at Maplewood. My eldest will be going on her 5th year this summer. The reason we love camp Maplewood is that it is a true camp where kids can be kids. They have great activities and an action packed day. They also have all of their special camp friends. We love Maplewood!
I am the Mother of three boys who have been coming to Maplewood for 4 years. My oldest son loves the choices he gets for club day - soccer yo, yo, the rock climbing wall. One of most special things about Maplewood is way kids are celebrated for their achievements. They love coming home with the awards that celebrate all of the wonderful programs at Maplewood.
I have a son at Maplewood who is six years old and this is his first summer. We absolutely love and it is one of the best run camps that I have ever seen. This is the best swim program you will find. My son did not even put his foot in the water and is now floating swimming, treading water. In 10 days he was on his back floating. We could not have asked for more. He is so happy.
I have two daughters who have been coming to Maplewood for 7 years. They love it. They have grown up here and want to be counselors. Everything about Maplewood has been fun. It’s a structured environment and safe. There is great transportation and the counselors are very professional.
I have three daughters who have attended Maplewood for 3 years. They absolutely love it. My older daughter who never thought she could do gymnastics got to do it within the gymnastics program here and she said that anything is possible here at Maplewood .
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all the time, effort, and energy that you put into camp this summer. My daughter Robin had never attended a true camp before and we are blown away by her experience over the last four weeks. Her confidence, independence, and social skills have blossomed, and her swimming progress blew us out of the water (literally!)! We really felt that you got to know her and appreciated every picture and video. We look forward to making more memories at Maplewood in the years to come.
I just wanted to reach out to let you know what an amazing summer Caleb is having at camp. Caleb always loved Maplewood but this is by far his favorite summer yet! He loves his counselors s much and is having a ball. Maplewood is just the best and we are so lucky to have you guys in our kids’ lives. Thank you for all that you do to make summer camp so wonderful!
I wanted to take a moment to highlight the AMAZING experience my kids enjoy while at camp. I have heard a great deal about kayaking and seeing the turtles. I have heard about the pedal karts, the penny dive, and have even been taught some new dance moves they have brought home. They come home with smiles and stories that are a true testament to how amazing Maplewood is and friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you again for the follow up and for providing such an amazing camp for all the kids to enjoy, we feel so lucky to be part of the Maplewood family and look forward to the summers to come.
I just wanted to let you know that Connor came home from camp yesterday and said it was the best day ever. Like many parents I am sure, we were a little worried about the rain. When I asked Connor how his rainy day at camp was he said “OMG MOM, it was the best day yet!” It was the best and I even made a new friend, Jack!”
Thank you so much for giving Claire such an incredible summer experience at camp this summer. As you know, this was her first year at Maplewood, and she lived it more than I could have ever hoped! I am so grateful to you, and to her amazing counselors, for helping her learn and grow so much this summer, all while having the absolute best time. She is especially proud of all of the progress she’s made in swimming, and we have been in awe of how quickly she picked it up.
Thank you to you and everyone else that is working hard to make sure Finn has successful days at camp. Signing him up for Maplewood I had no idea what to expect and our experience has far exceeded my expectations. I am amazed by the support available, the communication, and the overall experience. Everyday I leave drop off knowing your all have Finn’s best interest at heart and are a few steps away if he needs the support.
As the end of summer approaches I wanted to reach out to you and let you know how much fun David had this summer at Maplewood. I was very nervous about how he would like camp and settle in because of his anxiety. He tried so many things this summer and just adored the staff! He comes home happy every day filled with wonderful stories! As his Mom, I could cry I am so happy! I know he will be extremely excited nest summer when he knows how much fun he’s going to have at camp!

Your child should bring 2 bathing suits; towels; flip-flops or sandals for the pool; sunblock; insect repellant towelettes: a hat or visor, lunch, and a jacket or sweatshirt if it is cool.
Our staff is our most important asset. We take pride in providing mature, professionally trained, and motivated staff.
Our head staff consists of a mixture of teachers, guidance counselors, and school psychologists and come to us with a wealth of childcare experience.
Each applicant must undergo a rigorous one-on-one interview with the Director.
Staff members must have excellent references, impressive experience working with children, and a willingness to dedicate their summer to the care and supervision of our campers. In addition, we conduct extensive background checks in the form of CORI and SORI reporting.
Many of our staff members are former Maplewood campers and many have been with us for 10, 15, or even 25 years. They truly are a part of our camp family.
Maplewood provides a unique summer experience with an emphasis on family, friendship, and community. We are proud of our well-rounded program which offers a multitude of structured options for every type of interest.
The staff that we employ also sets us apart from other camps. There is true value in hiring a professional, experienced person that will be there for your children, guiding them through their day.
You will find that we value every camper and staff member and always look forward to welcoming new and old campers into our camp family
Yes, we have a registered nurse on staff to care for your child if they are not feeling well or needs medication administered during the camp day. Our nurses come to us with many years of nursing experience. They can handle everything from minor cuts to more serious medical concerns such as asthma, food allergies, and diabetes. The nurse's office is air-conditioned and has a quiet space for campers to rest if needed.
Since 1965 over 30,000 children have learned to swim at Maplewood. Highly trained and experienced Certified Water Safety Instructors who have worked at Maplewood for 5, 10 and even 15 years guide our campers to success in swimming.
Our 2 heated Olympic-sized heated pools are specifically designed for all swim levels from beginner to advanced swimmers. Campers swim twice a day, with a 30-minute swim lesson each morning and a one-hour free swim time each afternoon.
Maplewood is lucky enough to have our 5-acre lake which we use for boating and fishing, not swimming. Unlike a heated pool, lake water is not the best place to teach children to swim. It is difficult to keep children in chilly water for any significant length of time.
Our heated Olympic-size pools enhance our recreational and instructional swim programs. Campers never complain about the instructional swim and stay in the water as long as they possibly can.
We never stop, even when it rains. Each group has its own customized rainy-day schedule. We have a multitude of indoor spaces that can accommodate all campers and staff.
Campers will still be able to engage in sports, rock climbing, gymnastics, art, dance, drama, music, and more!!! The fun never stops even if the sun is not shining. Remember to pack your camper, a rain jacket, or a sweatshirt.
We offer free bus transportation, at centralized pick-up and drop-off locations. Serving Easton, Sharon, Mansfield, Norton, Brockton, Canton, Foxboro, Stoughton, Bridgewater, Raynham, Taunton, Plainville, Wrentham, and Franklin
The bus routes will be available at the end of May, and you will receive information regarding the location of your bus stop and the time of AM pick-up and PM drop-off.
Homesickness is common, and our counselors are trained to help campers adjust. We encourage open communication and provide support through engaging activities. Regular check-ins help campers feel connected and supported.

Under the Child and Dependent Care Credit, expenses for sending qualifying children aged 13 and under to day camp can be tax deductible.
To qualify for tax savings, parents must have dependent children under the age of 13 enrolled in a day camp and must either be employed or a full-time student. As the day camp allows parents to work or attend school, its fees can be considered dependent-care expenses.
The tax benefits vary depending on household income and other factors. Parents are encouraged to consult a professional accountant or tax advisor to find out if they qualify and for how much.
